A View of Hotel Poseidon takes a satirical look at the fictitious story behind actual terrible reviews of a hotel. For this is a time we all need to laugh, especially at our own species.
This story was born from attempting to book a hotel in the USA. I found an oceanfront hotel with the best views and the worst reviews I’ve ever read. Beyond bedbugs, the hotel repeatedly had fires, worms, broken elevators, mold, passed-out staff, and raging staff/owners. What led to its dilapidated condition? Why do people keep booking its rooms despite its one-star reviews and cautionary bug-riddled tales?
I wrote in reverse to imagine its story, changing the name of the hotel and including select reviews (obscuring identifying information and names).
